Liane Gabora

Liane Gabora

Liane Gabora is a Full Professor of Psychology and creativity studies at the University of British Columbia. Her research, which employs both experimental studies with humans and computational models, has focused on creativity and how creative minds evolve over time as people adapt ideas to their own needs and tastes and put their own spin on them. In recent years her emphasis has been shifting to the exploration of physical light as a metaphor for inner light (creative spark, ray of hope, light of my life…) using multidisciplinary methods that include fiction and interactive technologies. She has over 175 scholarly publications in a diverse range of journals including Psychonomic Bulletin & Review, Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts, Journal of Mathematical Psychology, Topics in Cognitive Science, World Archaeology, Journal of Theoretical Biology, and Foundations of Physics. She has obtained over one million dollars in research grants, and has given lectures worldwide. She composes piano music and her short fiction is published or in press in Fiction (City College of New York) and The Fiddlehead (University of New Brunswick; Canada’s oldest still-in-print literary journal). Current projects include a nonfiction book titled Dawn of the Creative Mind and a novel titled Quilandria.

Meet Sidney (aka the Sacred Scribe)—a PhD candidate in Physics with a problem in the paradoxical human realm of love. What does a love triangle look like in the fourth dimension? Quantum indeterminacy rules, as Sidney and her friends explore a bold new cosmology uniting Science and Spirituality, and Sidney’s “wave function” must decide between the primal magnetism of Bruno, her friendship with Alyzia, and the life of her mind and creative soul.

Metapsychosis is a project of Cosmos Cooperative, a creative co-op for people with “visionary tendencies”—artists and scientists, writers and designers, tree-huggers and technologists—lovers of truth, goodness, beauty, and life in worlds upon worlds… It’s a big Cosmos, right? Visionaries of the world, unite! Seriously, this is supposed to be fun. Help us create a better Cosmos…
