Keeping Faerie Close: Folk Belief as Collective Memory
Understanding the folk beliefs of Faeries can give us insight into how humans understand our own liminal state between the animal and the angel, which, in essence, is what a Faerie is.
Oh, I’ll Be Free: Bluebird and the Soul in David Bowie’s Lazarus
This is a long title for such a little footnote I’ve made in my re-read of the mid-century book, Ever-Present Origin, a cultural philosophical tome by Jean Gebser. Gebser was a poet, and studied poetry. It was through his careful reading of R …
The Ecstasy of a Book Club
“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” —JC There is the possibility of ecstasy in a book club—this I aver. It’s a religious thing—or should be—the intercourse among “people of the book” (or rather, “ …
Geek LoveGeek Love Opening Hangout

Revealing the Culture of the Current: an Interview with Conner Habib
“Co-creating the world with the symbols laid out in front of us: What could be a better description of what is needed right now? We need to see what’s before us, learn to read it, internalize it, and then create it by combining it with our individuality.”
Coda – A Short Film of Life and Death
I found this beautiful animated gem as a randomly generated suggestion for my Youtube account. The Irish have always had a unique, thoughtful, and sometimes humorous relationship with death, so it comes as no surprise that this portrait of the psychopo …
Digital Mack is in the House
“As I looked at his work, I realized that the images seemed to be moving in front of my eyes. Or in my eyes, vibrating into my brain. (I was otherwise sober.) They also reminded me of the skateboard and graffiti art my brother, a tattoo artist in New York, has loved since our childhood. I stared at each piece—faces and eyeballs, subtle patterns—and felt an oscillating time dimension, layers of color and emotion.”
Subterranean Chambers
The sounds Chrystalis produces are the kind that you wish to keep to yourself; ones you don’t share with anyone.
“To Thee Homage”: Planetary Intensification
The video, “To Thee Homage”, offers us a moment of planetary contemplation.
Benjamin, Literacy and the Stars
Jenn Zahrt, fellow Metapsy author and publisher at Rubedo Press, is hosting a new course with Kepler College. “Benjamin, Literacy and the Stars” explores the lesser known role that astrology played in German philosopher Walter Benjamin’s oeuvre.
The Culture of the Current: A Workshop for Facing the World We Live in Now
Conner Habib is a man of many hats, but if there’s one thing he’s been at the forefront of, it’s been his sharp, philosophical appraisals of the cultural pulse of Western civilization. I first discovered Conner through our mutual i …
Introducing Microdoses
“Microdoses” is our latest addition to Metapsychosis, featuring short creative pieces, multimedia art, literary fragments, micro-rants, tiny manifestos, etc.
In the Crack
A searing story of love, sex, longing, spiritual vision, and the paranormal—an intimate look at race, class, consciousness, and sexuality—and a star-crossed marriage of the cosmic and the carnal in one man’s heart.
Integral and Me: A Brief (Partial, but True) History of My Years as a Meta-Revolutionary
On the one year anniversary of the Fourth International Integral Theory Conference, I reflect on what “integral” means to me now—and what I think lies beyond integral, meta and otherwise.
The Metapolitics of the Noosphere
For me, the cultural shift from an identity that is based upon a nation or a territory to one based upon a state of consciousness—indeed even a seizure of consciousness—expresses the transition from politics to metapolitics.
Consciousness in the Aesthetic Imagination
What can art tell us about the nature of consciousness? Or maybe the question is better framed in McLuhanian terms: What is the message of the medium of art with regard to the nature of consciousness?
Love is Patient, Love is Kind: St. Paul’s Advice For Contemporary Esoteric Spirituality
On second glance I find it very odd indeed that we should have this reading at so many weddings when after all this passage is about esoteric paranormal phenomenon.
Dialogues with the Inscrutable: Five Poems

Constellating Acts of Starry Night
We believe culture is consciousness, and consciousness is world, and so to participate as a media platform, we see ourselves as agents of enactive culture-making. Social poetics.
Neon Tribes: Ecstatic Highs, Techno-Trance & Digital Gnostics
The neon tribes of the digital age are seeking alternative spiritual streams, and yet the search for ecstatic highs within the inner landscape are fraught with frauds and superficial vendors. The marketplace has never been as full as it is now, nor as diverse and tantalizing.
Four In the Morning
The universe is crawling with unseen life: angels and djinn and spiritual guides. Like the excess in a stagnant pond, this abscess of the Absolute is obscenely corpulent in every nook and cranny, armpit and crotch of the Great Mother of dark energy and …
The Burning Ghats of Varanasi, India
I’m sitting downwind from the raging fires that are viciously swallowing up whatever still remains of the material manifestation of a once breathing, living body.

We’re live. After many months of preparation, design, planning and team assembling, Metapsychosis: Journal of Consciousness, Culture and Planetary Thought has flickered into existence from the digital protosphere. Our wish is for this publication to fl …
Inception
Metapsychosis means transmission between minds. It’s a journal of consciousness, culture, and planetary thought, curating essays, poetry, fiction, creative journalism, and experimental media. That’s the exoteric form. But the project is also a thought experiment, a spiritual inquiry, an invitation to explore a realm of possibilities latent within us. The question we’re playing with is: What if our minds are actually connected?
The SaddlebagHangout #1: Kickoff and “The Thief”
In this hangout we discuss (primarily) “The Thief” vignette, meaning and symbolism in the The Saddlebag, consciousness studies, Henry Corbin and the Illuminationist school (think: angels), Zoroastrianism, Babism, and The Bahai Faith.
Winter of OriginsSpringing from Origins: #litgeeks Winter Reading Draws to a Close
Here we are at the end of WoO. Spring is upon us, and our “Spring to Origins” poetic revelry event was, I think, a great success. Books have beginnings and endings but they are never finished. Re-reading a book forces us to work with a book over time, to disclose its nature slowly to us. They invite returning, like the seasons; their imperative merely to read and re-read, corso e ricorso. New interpretations glimmer up from occlusion, hidden treasures discovered in neglected passages.
