The 2024 Jupiter–Uranus Conjunction
“If I give you probabilities, ask no more of me.”
—Plato
Jupiter–Uranus Conjunction
For those of us in the USA, Jupiter conjuncts Uranus in Taurus on April 20, 2024, before heading into Gemini in late May.1 Thus begins their new synodic cycle, heralding big changes through Venusian themes via the arts, women, and alliances of personal or political nature. Break dancing as an official sport at the Olympics anyone? International AI regulation formation? Over the next 13 to 14 years we can expect to see this planetary pair upset the sphere of the routine, especially through technology and counterculture. And possibly world conflict.
Two Wild and Crazy Guys
The astrology of 2023 may have been a peaceful preview of 2024. However, let us for one moment meditate on the elements in the foyer of the oracle. In most esoteric traditions, the element earth represents stability, or at least tangible outcomes. Taurus is an earth sign. Uranus in Taurus since 2018 has been doing what Uranus does best: completely challenging the status quo of “stability”. This looks different for each of us personally, but we have co-existed in an interesting time for the last 7 years. Add the celestial amplifier Jupiter and it’s going to really. get. weird. The last Jupiter–Uranus conjunction in Taurus took place on May 8th, 1941. During this cycle we saw the United States aid allies in WW2, the Z3 fully programmable automatic computer, and the premiere of Orson Welle’s Citizen Kane.2 This film was thought to explore anti-fascist themes and America’s hesitance to enter a World War.
Venus in Spurs
Jupiter typically represents international themes, courts, academic institutions, and religious organizations. Uranus can symbolize humanitarian efforts, nonprofits, technology, and counterculture. This 2024 transit activates a Jupiter and Uranus serving the interests of a fallen female archetype; an Aries Venus in close orb to Chiron, wounded healer. Venus in detriment channels Mars by her location in Aries. She seeks love, peace, and beauty through Martian tactics, which are too direct and lack the balance that Venus prefers. It is almost as if she is trying to put on the garb of Mars, an ultra-masculine Roman deity of war. Unusual and selfishly motivated partnerships are almost guaranteed. Like Bonnie and Clyde (or Country B and Country C), these alliances are not precursors of a great and noble dynasty inclined towards the betterment of man. They end suddenly and perhaps violently. In fact, I would say that long-standing empires, or relics of such things, may lose significant public support over the next decade. This is partially resulting from a growing temptation for the masses to think peace, always favored by Venus, is through conflict, Mars territory. This is simply a good old-fashioned astrological astral illusion (an astral-logical illusion?). For those of us unaware of this illusion, expanded aggression may be justified. Those who oppose an escalation of conflict can look to a Jupiterian impulse, which offers a redeeming end to the daisy chain of planetary influence.
Water Wars
Jupiter significantly postpones any sudden actions on the part of Mars. Venus is doing some fire fanning for Mars in Pisces. By sign, this warring planet is ruled by Jupiter, King of this conjunction. Pisces, a mystical and nautical sign of the fishes, is generally conflict averse. The dual nature of this sign also indicates that Mars motivated figures thinking of opportunity (Jupiter) through societal upheaval (Uranus) on the heels of the Jupiter–Uranus conjunction, are indecisive and challenged to do so. Perhaps literally because of water or existing conflicts taking place on water. They might also have to consider laws (Jupiter) around technology (Uranus) existing in water (Pisces), such as the servers. Martian machinations are just too wishy-washy or even mystically motivated. History contains many examples of the strange and otherworldly belief systems of military officials, dictators, and monarchs. Anyone remember Joan Quigley, the White House astrologer? Due to Jupiter’s prominence in this conjunction I would also expect countries ruled by that planet to experience some Uranian change order over the next 13 years. Persia (Iran), Spain, Hungary, and Cologne, Germany are among the places that William Lilly notes as ruled by Jupiter.
Finally, there is nothing more Uranian than space and spacecraft. Legislative battles around confidential documents of alien life continue and will escalate over the next decade. The disclosure movement may gain more mainstream credibility and influence a collective philosophy about what it actually means to be human. Virtual reality and neurolink are good examples of the Uranian impulse to extend the capacity of human beings while simultaneously modifying biology, the “earth” of our individual existence, through technology. It is almost instinctive to feel these tools are at odds with human nature, as they are at odds with nature itself; the technological power it would take to host a future human “grid” with all its utopian data analytics capture and maintenance, would also mean access to a large physical supply of rare earth minerals. We are just bouncing back from a semiconductor shortage.3 Maybe Jupiter’s ingress into Gemini produces a new bountiful supply of the minerals? Or a true Jupiter–Uranus miracle happens like research institutions suddenly discover a supermaterial?
There is only one known with the Jupiter–Uranus conjunction, and that is that we’re headed into the unknown.
