Geoffrey Edwards

Since 2019, I am a full time writer and part-time fashion designer. I write science fiction, historical fiction and contemporary fiction, and I have published some poetry. As a fashion designer, my label, Transforma Garments, focuses on garments that can be modified on-the-fly to serve different needs. A first collection, developped in 2011, the gzip dresses, presented dresses involving three pieces (sleeve, top and skirt) that zipped together in different ways diagonally to form a contemporary look. In 2015 I developed a collection of underbust fashion corsets (the Infinity corsets) which incorporated panels that could be zipped into place to change the appearance of the corset. Two new collections are currently under development, one tied to the publication of my first science fiction novel, called “Plenum : The First Book of Deo”, slated for publication in March 2021 by Untimely Books, the book imprint of Metapsychosis. The PlenumAR collection consists of three belts that, when viewed via a smartphone, generate virtual animations of elements from the novel. A second collection under development seeks to created gender fluid garments that modify the wearer’s profile, feminizing or masculinizing the person’s appearance. I am also an editor for Metapsychosis – see my blog postings for details about my editorial practices.

As a fledgeling writer and editor, as well as an (almost-retired) scientist, I am feeling my way into the business of editing, critiquing, choosing. I have eclectic tastes. I read just about anything, and voraciously. I review everything I read—you can …

Since Fall 2019, we have been reading works by “visionary poets.” While what constitutes “visionariness” is an open and dynamic question (with intense contemporary relevance) we began our quest to bring visionary voices to life by alternately reading a …

Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talents tell, in the author’s words, a “cautionary tale”—which some have called prophetic, and some attribute to extraordinary powers of extrapolation—about a speculative version of America betwe …
